An experienced psychiatric professional based in Portland, Maine, Dr. Elliot Gruen has worked as a general psychiatrist at St. Mary’s Hospital in Lewiston, Maine, since 1984. He has worked in many areas of psychiatry at the facility, including in the adult unit, the adolescent unit, and the substance abuse unit. He mainly works in one of the hospital’s off-campus clinics as a primary psychiatrist. Dr. Elliot Gruen has also provided consulting services to other hospitals and medical professionals.

Dr. Gruen studied experimental psychology and the history of psychology at Colby College. He completed numerous psychiatric rotations at the New England College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his residency at the University of Massachusetts in Worcester. He also trained as a family nurse practitioner at Pace University as part of a preceptorship with a family osteopath. In his free time, he enjoys staying active through fishing. He has more than two decades of angling experience in both fresh and saltwater environments, including flyfishing expeditions in Yellowstone Park.
